THE POWER OF THE PATHWAY
Build your personal Pathway...
...and see how far you can go!
WE MIGHT HAVE TOLD SOMEBODY IN THE PAST, HERE'S YOUR TASK, HERE ARE THE EXACT STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE TO ACCOMPLISH IT. (WE) SHOULDN'T DO THAT ANYMORE. (INSTEAD) HERE'S THE OUTCOME I WANT; YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THERE
- Robert Brooks Brown, Commander of the United States Army Pacific
Our approach is simple: ditch "courses" and offer Challenges instead. The GiiLD app offers cool Challenges and the ability to see the learning Pathways of prior learners.
Anyone can take a boring course or get a cert.
We look to engage each learner in ways that elevate problem solving skills through personalized and project-based learning.
Connect with us. If you are a lifelong learner, then we want to know you.
Our goals - if you care.
We are trying to create a place where you can learn. We want GiiLD to be markedly different than typical "training" sites. Our experience training IT professionals for the past 11 years taught us that project-based learning results in critical thinking skills and problem solving. The technical stuff is the easy part. Learning how to learn is what we are pursuing.
So we ditched courses in favor of Challenges.
Our hope is that you take a Challenge and then use all the features in GiiLD to complete your Challenge, including Journals, Bookmarks, Pathways, GiiLD Groups, the Forum, and Comments.
We also hope that GiiLD promotes community. Learning from home can be isolating - but you should not be without community. The GiiLD community of learners are with you. And not just mentors. Other people taking Challenges can be very helpful while you are learning.
When know what works and what doesn't work in learning to program. But we don't pretend to know the best ways to make GiiLD support all of the things we have learned.
By filling out a GiiLD survey you are helping us improve our platform. You are helping the GiiLD community.
